Their Excellencies letter to the populace from The Quill August 2007

Good Tidings and Salutations from Their Excellencies Rodrigo and Khadijah,

Despite great obstacles, Warlords and Warriors was a grand and fabulous event. Not only do we appreciate everything the event staff went through to make it happen, the Board of Directors of the SCA commended the staff for their efforts considering the short notice at which they were told to find another site. So GREAT BIG KUDOS to everyone who made WW happen and wonderful. Special ‘writs of gratitude’ were given by the Baronages of Nordskogen and Jararvellir to Baron Kindorn Broadbelt, Lord Reinholdt von Trollenhagen, and Lord Daffyd the Loyal for their continued service to WW over the years. Finally at WW, we announced our intention to step down at 12th Nite this coming January (and Their Majesties after much begging and pleading allowed this).

Thus, we are accepting nominations for tickets of candidates for the Baronage of Nordskogen. All nominations are due by September 7th, 2007. Please email, mail, or present your nominations to Lady Ellen, Baroness Khadijah, and Baron Rodrigo. The process will (and has been) outlined so I won’t expand upon that. Just some words of advice to those who are considering the job. This is the biggest opportunity to impact and improve the SCA experience for so many people. It is a large responsibility but at the end you will have been able to touch so many lives and hopefully help them in so many ways. We have totally enjoyed our years as Baron and Baroness and can highly recommend the experience to any willing to give of themselves to Barony, Kingdom, and Society.

We also have words of advice to the populace as a whole. During these times of showing your preference in candidates, the opportunity to deeply and permanently hurt the members of your Barony is easily achieved. Please, please, please remember these are our friends and our family and choose your words very cautiously when giving opinions and describing candidates, even the words meant for the Crown may eventually make their way to the ears of the candidates. Also, don’t be afraid to bring your concerns for a candidate to them and speak with them about it, its usually the best way to lay the concerns to rest.

Many of you have already left for Pennsic War by the time this has been published. But we are looking forward to our last War as Baron and Baroness of Nordskogen, as such we are both attending the Pennsic War. If these words reach your ears and may sway you in any way, please come enjoy Pennsic with your Baron, Baroness, and Barony!
